Beauty Box 5 June Box- This might be the best one yet!

Frugalista Blog Beauty Box 5 June review

Hey folks,

I needed to tell you about this month’s Beauty Box 5. Because it’s So. Freaking. Awesome!

For me, what makes a great subscription box is generous samples, and a mix of full size products as well as stuff that I’m interested in, like nail polish and eyeshadow!

To review, Beauty Box 5 is a subscription box service sending you cosmetic goodies to your door each month. You can pay monthly at $12 or $8.25 per month if you pay for the year in advance.

The first product that caught my eye was the Nails Inc. nail polish in this adorable pink shade. Nails Inc is a brand available at Sephora and this is some good stuff. The bottle included is full-size and even though I have at least 100 polishes (shut up, you know you’re jealous!) I don’t have a color like this one. #NailsInc

Then when I saw the eyeshadow palette staring me in the face, I got really excited! What is this brand? LOL? I’ve never heard of it. But this was another full size diddy. It’s the Rotational Eye Shadow palette in So Rosemantic. I won’t lie- these six colors are bright and really pink- but look lots of fun. They’re located out of France and Australia. How cool is that? #LOLCosmetics

The Herbal Essences body wash and the Simple Skincare cleansing water are great to try. I’m not sure if the body wash is as orgasmic as the shampoos like in the commercials. But I’m willing to find out. Also, cleansing water is the new beauty trend and you need to try it!

I think I actually squealed when I saw the deluxe sample of Urban Decay Cosmetics Perversion Mascara! I love this mascara. It makes your lashes such a deep black without being clumpy. #UrbanDecayCosmetics

There was also a $20 gift voucher for Gorge Hair to order their haircare products. That’s an awesome bonus!

Beauty Box 5 offers you to shop in their online boutique, you have chances to win free product and credit by sharing on social media, and there’s always something new to discover.

Hey- I’m a beauty addict and they keep surprising me- so that’s impressive!

Let me know if you check it out.

Beauty Box 5 – March box

Has the country thawed out by now? The Vernal Equinox has passed and there are buds on the trees and I’m ready for my bikini.

JUST KIDDING!

I don’t wear a bikini. I wear a swimsuit Esther Williams would be proud of. We share the same birthday so I pay homage to her. But I can’t swim or do anything synchronized in a pool for that matter. Unless you count lifting my pina colada to my face in synch with my husband at the swim-up bar at the resort in Cabo.

Where was I? Clearly needing a pina colada.

March Madness is upon us – that’s a shout out to all you basketball fans.  The Yankees are in the Final Four, right?

MAKEUP-

It’s time for me to break down Beauty Box 5 for this month-

Here we go:

Eslor Introductory Collection– skin care packets. I hate packets. But it’s better than nothing for trying a new brand out and I can’t wait to check out these masks and treatments that are paraben free and lavish.

Elite Therapeutics body cream– smells like you’ve been to fancy spa and wore a plush robe with those disposable slippers.

Scandalous by Nanacoco Mascara– I have puny lashes and this mascara was nice but didn’t add a whole lot of WOW for my peepers. Great if you already are gifted with thicker lashes to begin with.

Styli-Style Eye Liner in raisin. This is creamy, never needs sharpening and pretty much budge proof. I like it.

Nanacoco likes BB5 because they also put in a lip gloss too! It’s shiny, not goopy and bright pink. Lots of fun.

Three of this month’s box items are full-sized! Excellent!

With every box there’s usually coupons and deals for free items. Worth your subscription price every time.

February Beauty Box Five Review

Beauty Box five is a subscription box program for $12 a month, or $10 per month with a 3 month subscription, or $8 per month with a 12 year subscription.

You receive 5 items; a mixture of deluxe samples, sample packets (grr, those always disappoint me!) and sometimes a full size product (my favorite!)

I have found that Beauty Box five crosses over between department store, boutique and drugstore brands.

Product is sent to me for consideration and all words and opinions are my own (obviously)

Ahh February. Six more weeks of winter, right?

If you’re on the East Coast, you might be buried under a foot of snow reading this. Well, hopefully snuggled under a crocheted afghan with a roaring fire nearby.

If you’re on the West Coast, you might be looking at the buds breaching forth from the cherry tree sprigs as spring feels just around the corner.

We’ve had some days here in the northwest that feel absolutely positively spring-like. My apologies.  I’m starting to think about spring break, vacation, lip gloss, makeup, and sunshine.

So with that, let me share my un-boxing and review of this month’s Beauty Box Five. If you remember, last month was a bit of a sad trombone when it came to my BB5 box. I wasn’t very pleased.

But low and behold, they redeemed themselves with February! Not only are the products fun and a good fit for me, 4 of the 5 products are full size! This month marks their 3rd birthday so they must be celebrating.

Here they are:

Marsk mineral makeup- eye shadow in Vanilla Frosting. It’s a loose pigment. Haven’t tried it, but this pot alone retails for $22.50! Worth the box right there!

.

Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel

I have to say that this formula is fantastic. I’ve used it in the past in conjunction with the coordinating base and top coats and the polish lasts several days. Truly.

Absolute New York Love Lip Balm

Did you go to Baskin Robbins as a kid, (or an adult) and get the bubble gum ice cream? Did you also spit each piece of bubble gum out on a napkin to save for when you’re done with the cone and you can chew the gum all at once? Just me?

Well this lip balm tastes like that bubble gum and I love it! Plus it’s buttery smooth and not waxy. Pucker up!

February bb5 lip balm

Avon calling. This isn’t your mom’s Avon. Big eye shadow crayons are IT right now. You can smudge them on all over the lid like shadow, or carefully line your eyes like a pencil. The formulas set to a budge proof consistency.

February bb5 avon eye pencil

GlamGlow Youth Mud

This is the one item in this month’s box that isn’t a full size. But that’s okay, I’ll pop this packet in my travel pouch. Glam Glow is always a winner.

Happy Birthday Beauty Box five! Here’s to many more.

January Beauty Box Five Unboxing

Beauty Box five is a subscription box program for $12 a month, or $10 per month with a 3 month subscription, or $8 per month with a 12 year subscription.

You receive 5 items; a mixture of deluxe samples, sample packets (grr, those always disappoint me!) and sometimes a full size product (my favorite!)

I have found that Beauty Box five crosses over between department store, boutique and drugstore brands.

I will admit this month’s box seemed a little ‘off’ to me.

Inside looked lovely as always. But I was somewhat disappointed to receive mostly drugstore items, and a mascara that is no longer in production. Here’s what was inside:

january 2015 frugie blog coastal eye shadow

Coastal Scents Eye Shadow mini quad

Despite the tinyness of this item, I love Coastal Scents eye shadows. They are velevety textured, long wearing and come in great colors. I have a palette of these in my makeup drawer. They are definitely an underrated brand and it’s great that they’re getting attention from subscription boxes.

january 2015 beauty box five softsoap

Softsoap Nutri Serums Body Wash

I think I would be happy with this sample if it wasn’t in a box with so many other drugstore samples. This seems great for travel but nothing exceptional.

january 2015 beauty box five garnier

Garnier Fructis Daily Care Fortifying Shampoo

I’m a total fan of Garnier products, but I can’t use shampoos like this because of the sulfates. It does a number on my colored hair. I’ll hang on to the sample size for my son or husband for travel though.

january 2015 beauty box 5 salon effects

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I’m a big fan of Sally Hansen products and have tried the Salon Effects before with great results. I’m a little scared of this design though. I think the stripes on my hands will look a little weird if used all at once! It’s very Dr. Seuss and cute, but not for me. Had this been in a proper shade for my style, this would have covered the cost of the box itself!

january 2015 beauty box 5 ultra flesh mascara

Ultraflesh The Gold Standard Mascara

At first I was really excited to get this in my box. And then I did some digging to find that this brand is discontinued and you can find these products on Amazon or Ebay. Hmm. Not sure why that would be something worth promoting in a subscription company? I didn’t try it yet, but it seemed pretty dried out.

Sorry to be a bummer for this month. I think all of us might be in a January slump. Hey BeautyBox five, don’t feel bad. My StitchFix for January was miserable too!

Okay people, here’s to better things for February. Let me know if you got a subscription box this month and what you thought about it.

Product is sent to me for consideration and all words and opinions are my own (obviously).

December Beauty Box 5 Review

It’s a little late in the month for my usual Beauty Box 5 review. I realize that. But I think the beauty elves were busy because I only just got my box.  But no worries, it was worth the wait.

Did Santa bring you a subscription to Beauty Box 5 this year? If not, maybe you should just get one yourself!- https://www.beautybox5.com/

So if you need convincing, take a look at the fun goodies in this month’s box.

Jacqua Hydrating Mist- smells like roses and for some reason, I love spraying my face with hydrating sprays. I’m addicted! #jacquabeauty

Absolute! New York polish remover pads- do you ever head away on vacation and then your polish looks ratchet but you don’t have anything to take it off with? Pop these in your travel pouch. #absoluteny

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer- Winter months leaving your skin parched? Like organic products not just for your food but on your skin too? This moisturizer is becoming super popular of late. Better not get left out and be the only one with dull dry skin. #juicebeauty

Nanacoco nail polish.  This brand seems to be a favorite with Beauty Box 5. The lip glosses and nail polishes are so good from this brand. #nanacoco

Lucky Brand Lucky Number 6- I don’t wear perfume all the time, but I like to try scents and especially woodsy floral ones are fun. #luckynumber6

Beauty Box 5 October box

I had so much fun with this month’s  Beauty Box 5.

Have you seen the Extend Your Beauty Cosmetic Tool around your local drugstores? This little guy goes to the bottom of bottles to get the last possible bit of fantastic eye cream or Dior Capture Totale Serum (ahem that stuffs expensive!) and this way you can capitalize on those last little bits.

This ain’t your mama’s Chapstick. Dual ended and moisturizing with sunscreen! I love it!

Nanacoco nail polishes are great high-end polishes at low end prices. Great color and thick, smooth formula.

Bellapierre Cosmetics bring to the Beauty Box 5 a dual purpose product- cheek stain and lip color in a true pink. Cheek stains offer light washes of color that look transparent on the skin.

I always save my favorite for last – Lashem Picture Perfect is a primer to smooth and make a great canvas for makeup. It fills wrinkles and pores and gives an even finish.

High five! Beauty Box 5 September Box

I feel pretty, oh so pretty, and bright!

And I pity any girl who

DOESN’T GET BEAUTY BOX 5 SUBSCRIPTIONS!

I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Have a look what’s in this month’s box:

Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon

This is a creamy eyeshadow/eyeliner stick. I love that it’s retractable and its texture. The crazy purple pink will be a fun adventure to incorporate in my ‘green eyes that’ pop look with plums and violets.

Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner and Co-Wash-

I haven’t tried this product yet but it sounds like my hair will love it. I don’t know what a Co-wash is. It says that it’s for curly haired girls. Maybe that’s why I don’t know, because I’m not a curly-haired girl. But with shea butter and paraben and sulfate free, this kind of deep moisture product makes me happy.

Sally Hansen Toe Spacers

I pretty much have enough toe spacers to start a nail salon. I’ll probably toss these in a goody or gift bag for one of my daughter’s friends. Dear Beauty Box 5- no more toe spacers!

My Beauty Spot Nail Polish

I received a true gold color that spreads on thick and looks solid. Fun for accents and patterns over other colors. What I wasn’t sure of was the smell. For a nail polish, it’s got a very strong scent. Like I spray painted the tool shed. We’ll see how I tolerate this!  But the color and coverage is great.

Chrislie Formulations 3-in-1 Eye Bright

Hold. The. Phone.

This is like Botox in a tube. Okay, I don’t have Botox, so I wouldn’t know if it was like that. But my eye area was fresher and brighter after I applied it, just like it said. AND it didn’t get chalky or pasty like some other lifting products do. Love.

There you have it.

My subscription box addiction

Two things I know. You can’t brush your teeth while eating Oreos. And, I have an addiction to subscription boxes.

It’s true.

I might need to join a support group. It might be a new TV show on TLC. It’s not necessarily my fault when they are SHOVED IN MY FACE all over the Internet.

And here I am enabling you too.

I am your dealer. Your pimp. Because now I’m telling you how great these babies are.

And I’m telling you that you should sign up.

One in particular is Beauty Box 5. If you follow my blog, you’ve seen me describe each month’s box of goodies.

This month is pretty awesome too. Here’s a picture to see. I could tell you all about it or you could see for yourself.  For more details, go to their website and check it out- Beauty Box 5

I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.

June Beauty Box five review and un-boxing

Only 6 months until Christmas! Sorry? Too soon? Too soon.

BUT, but, I can get excited for my Beauty Box five that came this month. Which is like Christmas in the mail each time.

Remember, 5 items, $12, some full size items or deluxe samples.

This month’s box had a treasure trove of goodies.

Probably my favorite thing is the nail polish called Nicka K New York . I love this polish and have used it before from a different subscription box! The color they sent is a deep red which I have a wardrobe of for my toes.

Is there always a mascara in my BB5? I think so! How helpful is that of them? This month’s is Glam Natural Mascara. And guess what? It’s GLUTEN FREE! I know from several friends that gluten free is important even in hygiene products and makeup. I wasn’t aware of other gluten free brands, so now we know of this one. How cool is that?

Organix Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner uses the beloved ingredient, coconut and leaves out the nasty sulfate ingredients. Tthey sent a little sample packet of this which will go in my airline travel bag. I should use it first to try it, but I always save those travel packets, for well, travel. Also, I like Organix products and I think I’ll certainly like this one.

The Eslor Calming Kit introductory collection really interests me. I always am looking for skin care that is gentle for my sensitive, Rosacea prone complexion. Maybe this will agree with me. These were also little sample packets but I dove in to the cleanser and liked it.

Oh my goodness. You know what Emma is addicted to lately? Shower gel that smells like baked goods. I know. Who knew? Well this Vita Bath Body Wash in pink frosting is delish. I mean, it SMELLS delish, of course. I didn’t eat it. I love that it is also without yucky chemicals. Maybe if I wash with this every morning it will satisfy my donut binging. Hmm. Probably not.

Beauty Box 5 Subscription Box- May

May day! May day! This isn’t an emergency, it’s a happy dance for the warmer weather! Can you believe May is almost over? How is THAT possible?

But before we start freaking out about 2014 being almost half way done, let’s jump in to this month’s Beauty Box 5 package of goodies!

Beauty Box 5 May review by Frugalista Blog

The smart folks at Beauty Box 5 know that the temperatures are rising and with that comes sweaty pits. Well, mine anyway. Also, shiny complexions. Again. Me. I have dry skin but as soon as my Weather Bug app tells me the day will see temps past 70 degrees, I get ‘luminous’.

Let’s begin:

Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths – Woo! I love these. They are like cloth wipes but with antiperspirant in them. I rubbed them on my pits and my feet. They feel like velvet and cool. I will be keeping these in my purse for when I feel stinky. Trust me. I will.

MaskerAide Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask – Since there’s only one of these, I haven’t tried it yet. I’m saving it for a fancy occasion when I need to look fresh and perky. Also they are biodegradable and that makes me happy. Each mask contains Argan oil and vegan-friendly hydrating ingredients. Put this on after a day at the beach when you feel all dried up and pruney.

H2O Plus Aqualibrium Marine Cleansing Gel – An oil-free cleanser that uses sea salt and marine botanicals to wash off all that sunscreen you wear every day. I like the smell of this.

Harvey Prince Hello – I don’t always like fragrance samples that come in sample boxes, but I’m somewhat in love with this one. Citrusy with flowery tones like plumeria, it’s so sunny. A perfect happy fragrance to wear in the warmer months. Heat activates fragrance, so just a spritz is all you need this time of year.

CATTIVA Precisione Eye Liner – This retractable eye liner says it’s waterproof. So I did my test where I swatch it on the back of my hand and try to rub it off. It wouldn’t come off. So then I washed my hands several times. It stayed put. I’m guessing that when they say waterproof, they mean waterproof.

And there you have it. If you haven’t subscribed already, what are you waiting for?

And if you have- tell me your faves, I want to hear!
