A HOUSE TOUR AND OUTTAKES

Remember my neighbor, friend and decorator extraordinaire, Karen Devine
Within weeks of each other, Karen and I both turned Forty-licious.
Karen celebrated her birthday on a warm, sunny beach with an ocean view.
I was happy for her. Really.
In our neighborhood, many neighbors have keys to each other’s homes. We housesit for each other. We let out the dog on those long work days. We take in the paper and check the mail and shovel the walk while you are on a freaking beach in Florida.
I was happy for her. Really.
Karen graciously agreed to let me share her home with all of you!
Please join me for a tour of Karen’s lovely home. (Be sure to scroll to the bottom for the outtakes.)

This week, I will be sharing more pictures from Karen’s home. (“Tips on how to be functional and purdy”)

I’ve been reading a lot about “How to be a better blogger in 2012!”
Sarah from A Beach Cottage, one of my favorite bloggers, encouraged others to blog in their own voice.  Leave your footprint on your posts, so to speak.
So…here is a peek behind the scenes of this house tour.

Karen has lots of makeup to play with.

What a liquor collection!

Wow, all this work makes a girl thirsty.

Karen’s not the only one rockin’ her bikini in January.

I even managed to fit in a few sit-ups on Karen’s diving board.

I was so happy to warm up in Karen’s robe…with her booze…with her magazines…in her bed.

After eighteen years in the classroom, Kerry Rossow left teaching and found her writing voice on her blog, HouseTalkN. Sharing her life shenanigans, Kerry is a weekly columnist at In The Powder Room. In 2013, following the motto “leap and the net will appear,” Kerry joined a mission trip to Haiti, became a published author of the best selling anthologies, I Just Want To Pee Alone and You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth, took to the stage as part of the cast in Listen To Your Mother and launched a stage production by, for and about women- the That’s What She Said show.
You can find Kerry on Facebook and twitter.

Frugalista Blog goes to the Thrift Shop (it’s a dance video people)

I’ve shaken my groove thang for you guys before.

But this time, I’ve been DARED to dance. Oh, do I need a dare to get me to dance? Hardly. But Kerry over at HouseTalkN has this Blogger Dance Party. A few of us crazies on the internet like to spread happiness via dance moves. I don’t turn down a party invitation.

I’ve had this fantasy about being in a music video. Sort of the Tawny Kitaen White Snake kind. I want to dance on the hood of a Jag with big auburn 80s hair. Or maybe the Courtney Cox special of getting pulled on stage with The Boss.

OR, have a whole bunch of dancer minions to look on from my throne, ala, J. Lo in On the Floor.

So instead, I made my two-cent version with my Flip camera. No, not 50-Cent (that’s Fiddy Cent to you), just a cheap two cents version. No Def Jam label here people.

Okay, here we go. I’m sporting all my fetching frocks I got from, you guessed it, the thrift shop. Here, I’m popping tags. For the record, I have no idea what that means. I’m just a rhythmless white woman, shaking what my momma gave me.
