Purple eye shadow- a tutorial for green eyed beauties!

Frugie Blog presents How to make Green Eyes Stand Out

Whether or not you have green eyes, this is a pretty tutorial to wear a shadow that’s NOT taupe. Which, let’s be real, is what I wear ALL THE TIME.

If you’re in a rut or need some tips to make your eyes stand out, or how help wearing shadow on mature eyes (ahem, the ones that droop!), then you might like this.

Feel free to leave me your comments and share with your friends and click the little ‘thumbs up’ button by the video. Thank you!!

Smokey Eye Tutorial (for those over 40) or anyone who doesn’t want to look like a hooker

An easy smokey eye tutorial 40 year olds

It’s been ages since I’ve posted a makeup tutorial so I’m excited to give you this one! Sorry brother. I know these bore you. Maybe next week I’ll blog about something controversial that will entertain you.

Okay, down to business. I have been asked by a few of you who want to know how to put on eye shadow. It’s a lot easier than you think. You can do this. And a lot of tutorials on YouTube are of twenty somethings and their winged out eyeliner. I don’t do that very well. Despite my efforts.

And since everyone and their cousin does a smokey eye, I thought I would give you the tools of creating that look for yourself. And not looking like you pulled an all nighter with Keith Richards.

Enjoy!

Holiday Lip Looks and Introducing the Naked 3 Palette

I made a super duper extra big makeup tutorial for you. I was so excited to try my new Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay.

And then I got to thinking, I’m going to show you all the festive lipstick colors for the season. They’re bold, they’re bright and sometimes quite dark.

But they’re all pretty. And they will make you feel in the holiday spirit. So don’t be afraid- jump in and get on your fancy face. Wait, didn’t Bo say that to Hope in Days of Our Lives?

How to cover up redness

If you have Rosacea, you understand how much it can be frustrating to get a flawless porcelain complexion. After many attempts I have found some proven methods to fake a flawless complexion with makeup.

Here’s my foundation routine for covering redness. Hope you enjoy it!

If you have your own tips or products you find effective, I would love to hear about them! If you want to know about my skincare routine to keep my Rosacea from flaring up, you can read that here.

Get NAKED. A tutorial for a complete look.

I feel a little late to the party. But I finally got my hands on the Urban Decay NAKED basics palette. This is an abridged version of the NAKED and NAKED 2 palettes. It’s a perfect set of eye shadows that are neutral and you can play up your looks to be bold or just understated.

I’m going to show you how to build a neutral eye using all the colors for not just eye shadow, but liner, contour and eyebrows. Yep. You’ll see.

Simplifying your summer makeup routine to 7 products- you can do it!

Lighting and filters always help.

If you’re a makeup junkie like I am, reducing your beauty routine to just 7 products is a challenge.

I can use 7 products on my eyes alone if you include primer, shadow, liner, mascara, brow pencil, brow gel… geeze!

So reducing my entire makeup routine to just 7 products is a huge accomplishment for me.

Usually I like to give myself about 20 minutes to do a full face. I love playing with my makeup and applying different colors, formulas and trying new techniques. But going on vacation or to a conference, or if you just wake up late, and you need to look decent in around 5 minutes, there’s still hope to applying a full face of makeup with just 7 products.

I will be attending BlogHer 2013 in July in Chicago. There won’t be a whole lot of time to sleep in and dink around with my beauty routine. Plus, I can’t take my entire Sephora sized makeup collection in my suitcase.

So I came up with the following:

My top 7 picks for a quick face. (Video below, if you choose. Please choose, please.)

Cover Girl 3 in 1 Color Stay Foundation Creamy Natural

Susan Posnick color correct stick-light

Tarte Amazon Eyes Waterproof pencil (some bronzey brown color, it doesn’t say)

Tarte Amazon Clay Bronzer- Park Avenue Princess

Dior Brow Styler- Universal Brown

Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara-Black

Mirenesse Gloss Stick-First Kiss

I also used my Sigma F80 foundation brush- I love! And I put on BB cream prior to the foundation to give myself added sun protection and coverage.

If you’re headed to BlogHer this summer, let me know other packing tricks so I can fit 10 pairs of shoes in my carry-on.

Thanks!

Makeup for 40 year olds (or anyone that isn’t 20)

Today’s blog post is a video.

So many folks ask me about makeup, so I’m sharing my wisdom and expertise. Let’s use those phrases loosely for me, ‘kay?

Grab a cup of something good, take notes, and enjoy a long (it’s 29 minutes!) session on makeup with me.

Tell me what you like, or what you don’t like about it and I’ll use that for my next video. I say things like, “just slap that on” or “go to town with …” it’s entertaining, I promise.
