The New Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift

Would you pay someone to massage your face 27,000 each day, twice a day knowing it would improve your skin tone and reduce wrinkles? What if you could do that yourself for just a few dollars a day? What if I said you could combat 15 signs of aging while you did those massages? You would say I sound like an infomercial, huh?!

Clarisonic has been the leading facial care cleansing tool on the beauty market for many years. I’ve had mine for almost 10 years now. So when they offered to send me their latest device that claims to lift and firm in 12 weeks, I jumped at the chance.

They also were cool to actually give me the time to use the tool and see the benefits without rushing to post about their campaign!  I was not paid for this post. Just thought I’d throw that in as well.

No filter, no Photoshop. Just my face.

What’s different about this device than previous Clarisonics is the massage head feature and smart chip. Two brush heads are included (one for face, one for body) with the massage head, a cleanser, and a charger/plug adapter. The smart chip adapts to what head you have on your device, whether for face or body or massager, and even detects the gentler areas of your neck. It will also tell you when it’s time to replace your brush heads.

For folks not familiar with the Clarisonic, it is a supersonic brush device that cleanses your skin a BAJILLION times more effective than rubbing your makeup and sunscreen off with just soap and water.  It’s more effective than a washcloth or a hand held scrub brush too. And gentler. It’s not an exfoliator. It doesn’t remove layers of the skin. It merely deep cleans the skin.

Over the last five or six weeks I have been using the product and using the massage feature every morning and sometimes in the evenings too. I love that my serums and facial oils are going deep in my skin and actually working.

My face looks plump and radiant and my fine lines are diminishing right before my eyes. Not only that, but you can use this in the shower so it’s convenient. And you can use it on your decollete and neck/throat area. Good bye elephant neck. I’m starting to get that crepey skin around my neck area that looks like an elephant’s foot.

You know what I’m talking about.

Thankfully with the Clarisonic, I plan on making those lines extinct in the next 8 weeks or so.

Bye, bye, crepey elephant leg neck

An air purifier you need

We are having the worst summer or the best summer, depending on how you look at it. I hate the high temps.  It’s been a solid 3 weeks of 80 degrees and reaching into the 90s here in the great Northwest. I’m DYING. I know that is overly dramatic (ahem, hence my byline) BUT, seriously, this isn’t cool. Knock it off Mother Nature! You’re pissing me off. And the forecast this week is for mid 90s. Seriously. I’m starting to look forward to Christmas at this rate.

We don’t have central air. Most homes in Seattle don’t. If we lived in Texas we’d be sitting pretty because this would seem like average summer weather and we’d have our air conditioning cranking out to keep us cool. Instead, we have fans. And screens. So we wait until 10 o’clock at night when it’s cool and open everything up and blast whatever cooler air there is outside to bring inside. As well as hope and pray that none of the neighbors are using their fire pits which just sends campfire smoke straight into our house. That’s a whole different rant from me!

Thankfully, we have a portable a/c unit in our master bedroom that hooks up to our window and we can run that for a couple of hours to cool off just our room. Owen has been sleeping on the floor with us because his room is still 90 degrees even at 10 pm, and he has a loft bed. That means, he’s 5 feet off the ground and heat rises, so he doesn’t want to sleep up there!

What does this all have to do with an air purifier you ask?

Well. With the ratchet nasty air quality we are having because of the extended heat, that is leaving a hazy film in our sky, AND the constant running of fans and a/c units, my skin and sinuses are not happy.

This is not me. Duh.

BUT- to the rescue is the Venta Air Washer. What is a Venta Air Washer you ask? Well it’s the finest German engineering for a humidifier and air purifier there is.

Small, medium, and large. Pick your size, Goldilocks.

My first experience with a humidifier was way back when Emma was 2 and she had the worst croup. It was the first time she was so sick. It was Christmas Eve and I didn’t know what was going on. The doctor said when she coughs like a barking seal, she needs a humidifier in the room she’s sleeping in. I had never used a humidifier before. We went to Rite-Aid and bought one. It was decent, I guess. It had these gauzy filters inside that needed replacing often. If you didn’t replace them, they would mold and then of course, you’re pushing moldy air around and that isn’t healthy! I was grateful for the effects of the humidifier for Emma’s cough, but it was such a pain to maintain. It would get moldy quickly and it was loud.

When the Venta company reached out to me, I was very curious to see their product. We haven’t had croup in this house for years! Yes, I have still considered a humidifier, especially in our room while we sleep to improve the air quality. Now at least allergens, pollen, dust, (even bugs) are getting filtered out without having to even think about them. I don’t know how to explain the saturation of steam in the air as a function of temperature- and if I did, you wouldn’t believe me, right? But I do know that the Venta is pretty freaking simple.

See the wheels turn and then the fan spins. Got it?

You take it out of the box, add water and plug it in. That’s it. Yes, you have to add water every day. Yes, you do need to clean it out once in awhile, but it’s gosh darn easy.

If your family is in need of something that will work like a Mercedes on the Autobahn to improve your indoor air quality, whether you just want to, or you need to for medical or allergy reasons- check out the Venta Airwasher. It’s ausgezeichnet!

Bellapierre Cosmetics bring to the Beauty Box 5 a dual purpose product- cheek stain and lip color in a true pink. Cheek stains offer light washes of color that look transparent on the skin.

CoverGirl’s newest INSTAGLAM collection- Hit or Miss?

Cover Girl InstaGlam Review by Frugalista Blog

I was recently watching one of my favorite YouTube beauty guru’s review of the latest CoverGirl products.

I had to try them myself. So off I went to Walgreen’s and stocked up.

This recent collection is a big campaign with CoverGirl cover girl, Katy Perry. I definitely think it is geared for a young audience since it claims to keep you looking fabulous and photo ready.

Think “selfie”.  If you’re going to Instagram yourself, might as well look Instaglam. Get it?

Okay.

I tried 3 products. Well, two were the same. I wasn’t sure of the foundation color, whether it was going to be too orangey or too light. So I bought 120 and 205.

The 120 is too light. And don’t be fooled. It looks dark in the tube. The 205 is perfect for my light/medium complexion.

I swatched a little on my cheek in the car, and was not pleased.

But then, I applied it at home over a primer, and I couldn’t believe how well it covered and blended. It didn’t settle in my pores or lines. It seemed to have a smooth velvety finish.

The powder was the other product I tried. It claims to be a foundation powder. I didn’t use it alone as foundation, but instead used it to set the liquid foundation. I tried the light/medium #205 in this product and it seemed perfect.

The compact seems a little chintsy plastic. But hey- it’s less than $10. I liked the way it set the makeup and even the touch-ups during the day did not seem cakey or chalky.

Other items in the collection I didn’t try are the concealer and the lip gloss.

The products I did try, I give a thumbs up. All claim to be oil free and suitable for sensitive skin.

I had a hard time finding these online. But they were at my local Walgreens. Not sure if they’ve hit Target or Ulta stores yet.

Let me know if you want me to review any other products out there!

Have fun!
